The 9th “GIORGOS THYMIS” International Piano Competition was successfully completed

The 9th “GIORGOS THYMIS” International Piano Competition has been successfully concluded, with the awarding of prizes to the winners chosen by the Competition’s jury, after their performance in the grand finale concert: Bowen Li (1st prize), Lev Terskov (2nd).
On Friday, January 18, 2019, at the Thessaloniki Concert Hall, in the packed Friends of Music Hall (M1), in the presence of the friends of piano art and the jury, the 3 finalists who qualified from the semi-final round competed:
– LevTerskov (28 years)
– Aleksandr Zakharov (19 years)
– Bowen Li (22 years)
The 3 finalists performed a concerto for piano and orchestra, accompanied by the State Orchestra of Thessaloniki, under the direction of the great conductor, Giorgos Balatsinos. Lev Terskov and Bowen Li competed in the Piano Concerto no. 2 by Sergei Rachmaninoff while Aleksandr Zakharov chose to perform the Piano Concerto no. 2 by Frederic Chopin.
The jury decided not to award the prize money awarded to the best Greek contestant.
The organizers of the 9th International Piano Competition “GIORGOS THYMIS” (Association of Friends of the State Orchestra and K.O.Th.) would like to warmly thank the members of the jury, 7 world-renowned Greek and foreign artists who graced the competition with their presence : the President of the Commission, Cyprien Katsaris (France) and Piérre Réach (France), Idith Zvi (Israel), George Konstantinidis (Greece), Jura Margulis (Russia), Gabriel Tacchino (France), Maria Panagiotidou (Greece).
With the awarding of prizes in a final that we will never forget, the 9th International Piano Competition “Giorgos Thymis” was successfully concluded, which gathered the positive impressions of everyone with the high level of the competitors, who spoke of a perfect organization and a wonderful atmosphere of cooperation, as well as from the audience that enjoyed the free recitals of the preliminary and semi-final rounds, but also the great final with KOTH.
